When learning about the priorities for survival in extreme situations there is something know as the “Rule of Threes” which helps you remember what to focus on first.
Here they are:
1️⃣ You can survive THREE MINUTES without breathable air (unconsciousness generally occurs), or in icy water.
2️⃣ You can survive THREE HOURS in a harsh environment (extreme heat or cold).
3️⃣ You can survive THREE DAYS without drinkable water.
4️⃣ You can survive THREE WEEKS without food.
So these are the priorities:
π·Clean fresh air,
π₯Shelter from extreme heat or cold,
π¦Clean drinking water
π₯Food
π₯Shelter from extreme heat or cold,
π¦Clean drinking water
π₯Food
On a macro level this is what makes the climate crisis so dangerous and an extremely urgent issue for us to address with all our ingenuity:
BREATHABLE AIR: Under severe threat. See Climate change and air pollution damaging health and causing millions of premature deaths
ENVIRONMENT: Under severe threat. See How extreme heat overwhelms your body and becomes deadly
WATER: Under severe threat. See The effects of climate change on water shortages
FOOD: Under sever threat. See Climate change threatens the worlds food supply United Nations warns
On a macro level our entire civilization is facing an extreme event and we should be focusing on the “Rule of Threes” for our priorities.
The root cause of all this is out of control carbon emissions which we need to curb immediately.
